    ARK: Survival Ascended GG SkyIslands

Get to Know the GG SkyIslands Mod

Base spots on the ground get crowded fast on a busy ARK: Survival Ascended server, with every good stretch of land already claimed by the time you settle in. The GG SkyIslands mod skips that fight entirely: it lets you build your own floating islands in the sky, away from the ground-level scramble for space. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you the mod’s island types, its structures, and how to spawn its admin box if you’d rather experiment than gather.

GG SkyIslands is a mod created by ragingarcher, available through Nitrado’s Premium Mods section as a separate purchase. It adds a full set of floating islands, decorative trees, and passive resource structures, all built from a single dedicated workbench.

    Building Your Islands

Everything starts with the GG Skyisland workingstation, the workbench where you craft each island type along with the trees and extractors that go with them. Islands generate across a range of biomes, though the mod’s tree types aren’t locked to a biome: you can plant any of them on any island, once you find its designated planting spot.

Every island also has room for one of the mod’s three stone extractor types, plus a defensive platform built into its underside for PvP fights. Picking up or destroying an island has a 15-second delay, so a stray hit won’t take your build down by accident.

    Main Islands

Main Islands are the mod’s base size and are available in biomes including tropical, Redwood, swamp, desert, snowy, and oasis, like the oasis build pictured below. Each one has a main platform plus a smaller platform for mining or extra trees, along with around three fixed trees themed to the biome.

Redwood islands are the exception: you can build extra platforms directly into the trees, but it’s the only Main Island biome without a small mining platform.

    Ruined Islands

Ruined Islands share their size with Main Islands but swap the standard biomes for two themed variants, one modeled on The Island map and the other on Scorched Earth. Both work the same as a Main Island, just with the ruins from their source map worked into the build.

    Small Islands

Small Islands are noticeably smaller than Main Islands and skip the second platform and the built-in trees, though you can still plant your own. They are available in biomes including tropical, Redwood, desert, swamp, and snowy, and each one has room for a mining post at its center for passive resources.

A bridge variant is also available. It carries every feature of the standard Small Island, plus a bridge you can use to connect it to another floating island.

    Event Island

Event Islands are bigger than Main Islands, with a large main platform and a second platform roughly half its size. A smaller island connects to the main build by a staircase, and two mining posts generate resources passively. Event Islands come in only two variants: a tropical build and a Scorched Earth build, where the second platform switches to an oasis biome instead.

    Grouped Island

The Grouped Island is the mod’s largest build, combining every biome into a single island. It’s a good pick if you don’t want to commit to one biome, giving you a share of each plus plenty of extra room to build.

    Structures and Resources

Beyond the islands themselves, the mod adds a handful of structures you build to make each one livable:

    • GG Skyisland workingstation: The workbench where you build every island type along with the mod’s decorations and resource structures.
    • Skyisland tree planter: Decorative trees with eight variants, each a destructible structure that passively generates wood and thatch. The cactus variant also generates cactus sap. Place any tree on any island once you find its designated spot.
    • Wooden well: Keeps a constant supply of drinking water on your island, useful if you want to grow crops there without running dry.

Skyisland tek forcefield generator raised on a support pole above a floating island in ARK: Survival Ascended

    • Skyisland tek forcefield: A shield generator that sits at the center of your island and can expand its barrier to cover the entire build, protecting it from outside attacks.

Skyisland mining post extracting resources on a floating island in ARK: Survival Ascended

    • Skyisland mining post: Generates one of three mineral types passively: metal, obsidian, or crystal. Place more than one if you want several resources running at once.

Crystal Tree Sap tab attached to a Redwood tree in ARK: Survival Ascended

    • Crystal Tree Sap tab: An upgraded sap tap that holds more sap than the standard version. Redwood islands give you the most room to place them, with several slots per tree; every other biome’s trees hold just one.

    Administrator Box and Creative Mode

If you’re the server admin, or you just want to experiment with everything the mod offers, spawn the administrator box instead of gathering each resource by hand. Pick it up, and the box refills itself every time you close and reopen it, so you always have another full set of the mod’s materials on hand.

To spawn it, open the admin console and use the full GFI syntax: cheat gfi <blueprint path> <quantity> <quality> <force blueprint>. GFI needs all four parts to work, so a command with only a search term, such as cheat gfi admin, won’t spawn anything. Swap in the admin box’s exact blueprint search text from the mod’s own item list in place of <blueprint path>, since it isn’t part of the base ARK: Survival Ascended blueprint list.

Stake Your Claim in the Sky

You now know every island type, structure, and resource the GG SkyIslands mod adds to your ARK: Survival Ascended server, from a modest Small Island up to the sprawling Grouped Island. Pick a spot for your workbench, choose your first island, and start building upward instead of out 🏝️
