How to Install BepInEx for Valheim

For those who want to enhance their Valheim server, installing BepInEx is the right choice! This enables you to install mods, which can drastically improve the gameplay experience. The process to set this up on your multiplayer server is easy when hosting with Nitrado. In just a few minutes, you’ll have mod support on your Valheim server. In this guide, we’ll show you how to do that 👏

BepInEx Server Setup

1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface and stop the server.
2. Navigate to Tools > Addons from the left on your Dashboard.
   
3. Click Install on the right for Valheim Plus, then click Install again.
   
4. (Optional): Choose a specific version to install on the server.
5. Start up the server once it’s finished installing.

Adding Mods to Your Valheim Server

1. Navigate to Tools > File Browser on the left.
   
2. Enter the …/valheim/BepInEx/plugins directory.
3. Upload your .dll mod files here. Make sure the mods are compatible.
   
4. Restart the server to load all the mods.

Setting Up BepInEx on Your PC

We recommend using Thunderstore or Vortex to manage your Valheim mods. Otherwise, you will need to follow these instructions to manually install it on your computer:

1. Navigate to BepInEx on GitHub, then click Releases on the right.
2. Scroll down and select the “BepInEx_” file corresponding to your OS.
   • E.g. BepInEx_win_x64_5.4.23.2.zip for Windows 64-bit.

   

3. Save this zipped file somewhere easily accessible on your computer.
4. Launch Steam and right-click Valheim, then select Browse Local Files from Manage.
   
5. In the new window, drag and drop the contents of the BepInEx zip file into here.
   • The contents can be accessed by unzipping / opening it via WinRAR or 7-Zip.

   

6. Afterwards, launch the game once to generate the required files.
