Hello, survivors! If you’re looking for ways to get the most out of your ARK: Survival Ascended server and take your game to new heights, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you want to focus on breeding, PvP combat, exploring, or building, this blog will help you understand how ARK: Survival Ascended server configuration works. By the end, you’ll be able to set up your survival adventure exactly to your liking and needs, creating a unique experience for you and the other players on your server.
Setting up your ARK: Survival Ascended server is really easy thanks to the Nitrado Web Interface. You can find the most important and common settings in the General section under Settings. Alternatively, if you’re looking for even more control over your game, you can also edit the Config Files area. There, you have access to the Game.ini and the GameUserSettings.ini to add the parameters you want to personalize your game experience as much as you want.
In the General Settings area, you can adjust your server settings, from the name and password, to how elements and dinos will behave.
To edit these settings:
*Remember to stop your server before making any changes to ensure all configurations are properly applied.
To edit the Game.ini or GameUserSettings.ini files you just have to click on Config Files instead of General.
Once the Edit File settings have loaded, use the dropdown menu to choose if you’ll be editing the Game.ini or GameUserSettings.ini. Now you can add the parameters you want to completely personalize your server. Once you have made the changes, click on Save changes and Start server.
The General Settings area is divided into different sections. Each one focused on distinct aspects of the game. Here we’ll go through the ones we consider more relevant, and at the same time, we will give you the most popular commands for the Game.ini and GameUserSettings.ini console related to that section.
It is important that whenever editing the Game.ini file, the edits you add go directly below the [/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode] section, and under for editing the GameUserSettings.ini, under [/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameUserSettings]. Also, we recommend checking to ensure the settings are not already within your file beforehand. Afterward, you can edit those, save them, and restart your server to apply these changes.
With these settings, you’ll make the game truly your own!
As ARK: Survival Ascended is crossplay the first section in the General Settings area is the Platform Options, where you have to select from which platforms players can join your server. The options are PC, Windows, Xbox, and PS5, at least one option must be chosen. Take into consideration that the choice of platform affects mod support.
Continuing on the General Settings, the Base Settings section’s options are part of what will define your server personality. Starting by defining a name for it and it is also where you’ll set a password, we highly recommend you check our our security tips for a secure ARK server password. Additionally, in this area, you’ll also set the MOTD and map.
