Valguero is a free, official, non-canonical DLC expansion map for ARK: Survival Evolved, released in 2019 for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. This 63 km² map is known for its wide variety of biomes, extensive cave systems, a formidable boss arena, and the exclusive Deinonychus, a fearsome feathered theropod. The map blends classic ARK gameplay with fresh environments, challenges, and hidden secrets, offering a diverse and exciting survival experience for players who enjoy exploration and discovery. Shaped by the remnants of a lost civilization, its scattered ruins and hostile landscapes create a world where survivors must adapt to uncover secrets hidden both on the surface and deep underground. The map is composed of eight distinct biomes that offer dramatic environmental contrast. On the surface, players can explore the bright, open White Cliffs, dense Boreal and Redwood forests rich with resources, a humid Jungle, and a freezing Tundra that requires insulated gear. Valguero’s defining features, however, lie underground. These include The Abyss, a unique subterranean ocean teeming with deep-sea creatures like the Mosasaurus and Tusoteuthis, where there is no surface access for oxygen. It also contains The Unknown, an Aberration-inspired trench with radiation zones and no-fly restrictions, and The Great Trench, a chasm containing nests for Fire Wyverns underground and Ice Wyverns spawning on the surface. Valguero introduces several unique creatures and features distinct spawning patterns. The map's signature addition is the Deinonychus, which cannot be tamed traditionally but must be raised from stolen eggs found in nests across the White Cliffs; this creature can latch onto larger enemies and attack while clinging. Other regional variants include the Chalk Golem and the Ice Golem, frosty versions of the Rock Elemental found in the White Cliffs and Snow Desert, respectively. A notable feature of the map is the Broodmother, which roams the wild as a boss instead of being confined to an arena, leading to unpredictable encounters. The Aberration trench also contains aberrant versions of creatures like Spinos and Raptors.
