Where to find Metal on The Island

First of all, let’s talk a little about metal. You find this mineral in large rocks that look slightly different from regular rocks, as they have small silver fragments embedded in them. In the ARK: Survival Evolved version, metal stones used to be much more visible as they had a bright silver color that made them stand out.

Once you collect the mineral, you will need to smelt it into ingots to use it. For this, you will need at least one forge. Now that you have ingots, you can use them to create all kinds of structures, weapons, and tools.

Map Coordinates

This spot in the central part of the map is an excellent point to obtain metal, with obsidian and crystal being available too in similar quantities. If you decide to head to this point, be very careful as it is within the Redwood Forest, where dinos tend to be very aggressive and dangerous.

Latitude 66 Longitude 62

This location is perfect for when you are just starting your adventure. In this area you will not encounter overly aggressive and dangerous dinos. Also it has a large amount of material you can gather. Get your inventory full and have a great start in this mining spot!

Latitude 41 Longitude 37

Here you will be in the volcano! This strategic point is filled with all sorts of materials. You will find metal around, inside, and on top of the volcano. Additionally, you will find a large amount of obsidian and crystal. The resources do not end there, as this area is home to some hard to find dinos such as: Giganotosaurus, Procoptodon or Quetzal.

Latitude 34 Longitude 60

This is an excellent point to obtain metal. On this mountain, metal appears quite close together and is scattered around in large clusters. Whenever you visit this point to farm, you will leave with your pockets full of metal. So be prepared and go with empty pockets or with a friend to help carry all the resources.

Latitude 33 Longitude 82

This is an excellent point to obtain metal early in the game, as there is a very high chance you will spawn on the north coast of this island. You can also find some useful dinos like the Argentavis. The downside is that the metal veins are quite scattered across the mountain.

Scorched Earth Map

This resource is not exclusive to the Island map, you can find it on Scorched Earth too. With its unique geography, it represents a difficult challenge to find this precious material. Here are some locations you can go to obtain this material.

The Center Map
