ARK Tame Limit – Server Introduction

During your adventures in an ARK server, you and your friends will encounter dinosaurs from all walks of life. From the dangerous Giganotosaurus to the gentle Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Therizinosaurus, and more. With so many dinosaurs and the possibility to tame them, it is important to be able to tame a plethora of species to assist you during your journey. Unfortunately, with the default ARK tame limit, this normally isn’t possible. Thankfully, with some adjusting of settings on your ARK server, you can increase this in no time.
 
The default tame limit in ARK is 5000 for all players and while that may seem high already, it’s important to consider why this should be higher. There are factors such as the difficulty of bosses, the number of different dinosaurs and creatures available, the number of players playing on your server who will have tames, alongside the importance of a large dino army to defend, fight, and explore with. With such an army, you and your friends can be unstoppable while having many pets and friends to enjoy. To increase the limit of tames on your ARK game server, you can follow the steps below!

Increasing the ARK Tame Limit

It’s important to know that in your general ARK settings, only the maximum amount of dinosaurs on your server can be set. If you’re looking to also adjust the max personal tamed dinosaurs, we recommend following the steps below this section to edit your server in expert mode.

1. To begin, head to your ARK server webinterface and stop the server.
2. Next, to the left under “Settings”, select “General” to edit your server options.
3. Inside your settings, you’ll find the option “Maximum amount of dinos tamed” below the “Gameplay” section.


4. Once found, adjust that setting to fit your server. The amount you set will be the ARK tame limit for each of your server players.
5. Lastly, press “Save changes” and start your ARK server.

Editing with Nitrado Expert Mode

In addition to changing the ARK maximum dinosaur tames option in your general server settings, you can also use Nitrado’s expert mode editor. This editor unlocks the ability to expertly change your ARK settings directly within the server’s config files. You can edit your maximum tame limit and personal tame limits of your players in ARK by following these steps:

1. Go on your ARK server webinterface and ensure the server is stopped.
2. Then, to the left underneath “Settings”, click “Expert Settings”.
• If you do not see the “Expert Settings” option, edit your settings in the “General” section and check “Expert Mode”, save, start your server fully, and then stop your server to activate it.
3. Once you are in your ARK expert settings, search for the “MaxTamedDinos=” option. This will be located at around line 124 in your GameUserSettings.ini file. Edit this option to set the ARK tame limit on your server.


4. Then, search for the “MaxPersonalTamedDinos=” option in the same file. This can be found at around line 62. Set this to the maximum number of tames per player on your server.


5. After adjusting these settings, select “Save changes” at the bottom and then start your ARK server. Your server will now be ready with the new tame limit!
