Der Dino Finder Mod – ARK: Survival Ascended

Server Setup

Tracking down one specific dinosaur on a large ARK: Survival Ascended world can burn through your play session before you even find it. The Der Dino Finder mod fixes that by letting you search for dinos by species, gender, age, range, and traits, then marking them right on your map. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to install the Der Dino Finder mod and use its search options to track down exactly the dino you want.

Install the Der Dino Finder mod through your Nitrado Web Interface, then set up its configuration the same way you would any other ARK: Survival Ascended mod.

Note: If you’re running Der Dino Finder on a singleplayer world, you also need the start argument -preventHibernation. Console players need the Prevent Hibernation mod instead. Neither is required on a dedicated server.

Tracking Dinos with Der Dino Finder

Once Der Dino Finder is installed, a new button appears next to your inventory map for toggling the mod on and off. Turn it on, and markers appear over dinos in the world showing their name, gender, and distance from you, similar to the markers above. Select a marker to track that dino, and it leads you straight to it.

If you can’t find the toggle button, spawn it directly with cheat summon DinoFinderManager in the console.

Der Dino Finder searches through three tabs: Dinos, Filters, and Traits. Each one narrows down your search a different way.

Dinos

The Dinos tab lists every species tracked on your server, with a count of how many currently exist in the world. Scroll through the list and select a species, or use Select All and Unselect All to toggle the whole list at once. Set a Min Level and Max Level to narrow the results further, then select the location icon to place markers on the map. Der Dino Finder only marks the 20 highest-level dinos that match your search, unless you change this in the mod’s configuration.

Filters

The Filters tab narrows your search by gender, age, and range. Choose male, female, or both, then check which age groups to include: Baby, Juv., Adol., and Adult. The Range slider sets how far from your character the mod searches, measured in meters. Select the location icon again once you’re done to update your markers with the new filters applied.

Traits

The Traits tab is the most specific option, letting you search for dinos with particular traits like Vampiric or Tenacious. Each trait shows how many dinos on your server currently carry it. Select the traits you want, then apply them the same way as the other tabs.

Note: Select Clear Finder before starting a new search. Otherwise, your previous filters stay active and can hide the dinos you’re now looking for.
