How to Update a Palworld Server

How to Update a Palworld Server

When a new Palworld update lands, your server has to run the same version as your local game before you and your friends can join the server. There are two ways to get there: let Nitrado update the server automatically, or do it manually if there’s an issue with the automatic route. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to update your Palworld server both ways.

    Updating a Palworld Dedicated Server

The automatic method handles most updates on its own. The manual method, a full reinstall, is the fallback for when an automatic update won’t complete. Both run from your Nitrado Webinterface.

    Automatic Updates

Once a new version of Palworld releases on Steam, Nitrado stages the update on our servers automatically. You still need to restart from your Webinterface to apply it. Follow these steps:

    1. Log in and navigate to your Nitrado Webinterface for the Palworld server.
    2. Near the top, click the Restart button and wait.

    1. If you see “Start” instead, click that button.
    2. If the server comes back online, you’re on the latest version.

    Manual Updates

If the automatic method doesn’t work, you can update manually with a reinstall. Reinstalling erases the Palworld game files currently on your server, so back up your world before you start. There are alternative fixes in the next section if you want to avoid a reinstall entirely.

    1. Log in and navigate to your Nitrado Webinterface for Palworld.

    1. At the bottom left corner, select the Reinstall button.
    2. Confirm the prompt, then wait until the process finishes.
    3. If the server comes online, you’re updated.

Palworld Server Update Issues & Solutions

Most update problems trace back to one of three causes: a stalled restart, a crash, or outdated mods.

Why Isn’t My Palworld Server Starting?

A Palworld server usually fails to start right after an update because it crashed partway through. Wait one to two hours, then try the automatic method again. The update often finishes on its own once the server has time to settle.

Why Does My Palworld Server Keep Crashing?

If waiting doesn’t stop the crashes, your save data is the likely cause. Use the Restore Backup feature in your Webinterface to revert to your most recent save, then run the automatic update again.

Why Won’t My Modded Palworld Server Update?

Outdated mods are the most common reason a modded server won’t update. Remove or update each mod, check its page to confirm a current version exists, then try the update again.

A Palworld server can fall behind for a few reasons: outdated mods, a crash mid-update, or corrupted save data. Try the automatic method first, then the manual reinstall if it doesn’t take. If the server still won’t update, reach out to support for a hand.
