How To Setup the Votifier Plugin for Minecraft

Votifier Plugin Minecraft Voting Guide – Introduction

Note: Some plugins will only work in certain Minecraft versions, Votifier will work from 1.12 through 1.21.

While playing Minecraft, the world around players is filled with adventure. From building magnificent castles to battling dangerous bosses and even playing together with others. When playing with fellow Minecraft players, the more that play, the more epic the adventure can become. How do you gain more players though? When looking for more players to enhance the server journey, Votifier plugin server voting is a great tool to accomplish this.

how to setup Votifier on your Minecraft Server

Votifier is a voting plugin for Minecraft Bukkit / Spigot servers offering players the ability to vote for your server on Minecraft Server Listing websites. After a player vote, that player is rewarded with items you set up. Whether that’s a special diamond sword, in-game money, or even permissions to voter-only commands. To learn more about the Votifier plugin and how you can set it up on your own Minecraft server, follow the steps below!

How to Set Up Minecraft Server Voting

When making sure Votifier is set up correctly on a Minecraft server, three things will need to be done. To start, the NuVotifier plugin and a vote reward plugin will need to be installed. Then, NuVotifier will need to be set up to allow voting to work properly on Minecraft Server Listing websites. Lastly, vote rewards will need to be configured to provide players with rewards after they vote. Below, we will cover every step so that you can begin using voting as soon as possible on your Minecraft server.

Installing Minecraft Plugins – NuVotifier and a Vote Rewarder

      1. Firstly, ensure that your server is set to the Minecraft Bukkit / Spigot server type.
Votifier plugin Minecraft guide - checking to see if Bukkit/Spigot is installed
        • If your server isn’t running this type, you can use the “SWITCH GAME” option on the left of your panel to search for and install this to your server. Once your server is running Minecraft Bukkit / Spigot, your server will be able to support plugins.
      1. Next, download the NuVotifier plugin and a vote reward plugin. We recommend a vote reward plugin such as SuperbVote or a more advanced plugin like VotingPlugin.
      2. After downloading those plugins, head to your Minecraft server webinterface and stop your server.
      3. To the left of your webinterface, under “Tools”, click on “File Browser” to access your server files.
      4. Then, in your server files click the folders “minecraftbukkit” ➜ “plugins”.
      5. Once in the plugins folder, press the “Upload file” option and upload NuVotifier and then the vote reward plugin.

    1. Finally, once those files are uploaded go back to your Minecraft server webinterface and start your server. The Minecraft voting plugins you installed will now load and you can begin setting them up.

Configuring and Linking Votifier Plugin on Your Minecraft Server

      1. Once NuVotifier and a vote reward plugin are installed, stop your server and you’ll be ready to configure the plugins!
      2. On the left-hand side of your server webinterface, click “File Browser” under “Tools” to enter your server files.
      3. Inside your server files, go to the location “minecraftbukkit” ➜ “plugins” ➜ “Votifier”.
      4. You’ll see a config.yml file in the Votifier folder. Click to edit this file.
editing the Votifier config.yml file for a Minecraft server
      1. While editing the config.yml, look for the setting “port”. The port will need to be changed to a random, four-digit port between 8000 and 9000. For example, 8744.
how to edit the NuVotifier port on your server
      1. After editing the port, press “Save changes” and then start your server. Votifier is now set up and ready to go.
      2. To link Votifier to your listing, keep your server online and go to your Minecraft Server Listing website page. Edit the server listing.
      3. In the server listing, find the “Votifier” options and edit these. You’ll need to add the following Votifier information to your listing:
        1. Address | Your server’s IP address without the port.
        2. Port | Your Votifier port that you set up in step 5.
        3. Votifier Token or Public Key | In your Minecraft server files in the “Votifier” folder, you can find a “rsa” folder. Enter this folder and inside, edit the “public.key” to get the key. Copy and paste that key into the website.
adding a Votifier token or public key to a Minecraft voting website
    1. If everything is set up correctly, the Server Listing website will provide a message similar to “Successfully connected to votifier on your server.
      • You can also confirm if the vote was sent to your server by checking the “Tools” ➜ “Live Server Console” section of your Minecraft server webinterface. If you see messages similar to this, you successfully connected Votifier to your server:
        [02:02:08 INFO]: [Votifier] Got a protocol v1 vote record from /1.1.1.1:11111 -> Vote (from:PlanetMinecraft.com username:PMC address:1.1.1.1 timeStamp:1669860128 additionalData:null)
[02:02:08 INFO]: [SuperbVote] Queuing vote from PMC to be run later
    2. Lastly, save the changes on your server listing to enable Votifier vote support. Your server players will now be able to vote on that Server Listing website.

You can now begin setting up epic rewards for your players! Look below to see how you can add rewards using the plugin SuperbVote.

Adding Votifier Plugin Rewards to Your Minecraft Game Server

      1. Firstly, head on your Minecraft server webinterface and stop your server.
      2. After the server is turned off, on the left under “Tools”, select “File Browser” to access your Minecraft server files.
      3. Once in your files, go to “minecraftbukkit” ➜ “plugins” ➜ “SuperbVote”.
      4. In the SuperbVote folder, click to edit the “config.yml” file. You can edit the vote rewards in this file.
      5. Next, scroll down in that file until you see the “rewards” section.
SuperbVote Plugin Minecraft guide - how to setup voting rewards
    1. The “default: true” section is where you can set up the default rewards for any Minecraft Server List. We’ll be focusing on the “commands” area under this section to set up rewards.
    2. Under the “commands” area, add commands that are supported on your server to this section that will run and then reward players after they vote. Here is an example of several commands you can use, inserting %player% as a placeholder that is replaced with the voter’s Minecraft username after a vote is placed:
      1. give %player% emerald 3
      2. effect give %player% minecraft:speed 1 100
      3. eco give %player% 1000 (requires the EssentialsX and Vault plugin, along with an economy plugin)
      4. The possibilities for commands you can use are endless, limited only by the plugins that are installed on your Minecraft server.
    3. After making those adjustments to your rewards, press “Save changes” and then start your Minecraft server.

You’re now ready to share your Minecraft server with the world, inviting players to vote and boost your server so that it can grow at its best potential!

Common Voting Issues – Minecraft FAQ

The Votifier folder is not appearing on my Server

If the Votifier folder is not appearing on your server, this could be due to various reasons. We recommend checking each step to verify Votifier is correctly set up on your server.

    1. First, ensure that your server is set to Minecraft Bukkit / Spigot to be able to run Minecraft plugins.
    2. Next, ensure that the Votifier plugin .jar file is properly installed in your server files’ “plugins” folder. If it isn’t, the plugin will not load.
    3. Lastly, if the plugin still fails to load we recommend ensuring that you download the latest version and then attempt to install the plugin again using the steps above in the section “Installing Minecraft Plugins”.

Voting is not working on my Minecraft Server

When voting isn’t working, this issue can often be due to one of two issues. The first is that the Votifier information may not be correct on your Server Listing website or that the port for Votifier was already taken. To fix this, follow the steps above to change your Votifier port again and then re-set up the Votifier information on your voting website.

Once you are sure that the Votifier information is correct, it’s important to ensure your vote reward plugin is also working correctly. Enter your “Live Server Console” and then place a vote on your voting website. The console will inform you if the vote went through properly. If it did go through properly, vote rewards will be the culprit since it is likely failing to give players rewards.

To fix vote rewards, edit your vote reward plugin and re-set up any rewards under the “default” section of the plugin. Make sure to add commands, the %player% variable, and if necessary, plugin-supported variables for the rewards to work correctly. After everything is set up properly, start your server and voting will begin to work.
