Everyone on the internet has a story of where their name came to be. So what’s the story behind RoyaleWithCheese?

• The story behind the RoyaleWithCheese name is pretty dull and simple 😄. My IRL first name is Roy, and I’ve always been a fan of Quentin Tarantino movies, especially Pulp Fiction. So Roy-aleWithCheese kind of fits. It’s been my online name for forever now.

Nitrado is partnered with hundreds of Content Creators, Modders, and Developers. So how are you finding your partnership with Nitrado?

• In all my years, working with Nitrado has been nothing but superb! Sure there are hiccups and technical issues here and there, but the Nitrado team is always working hard and fast to solve any problems. As a content creator, I’ve worked with a couple of different server hosting companies over the years. I can honestly say that Nitrado has the best customer service and the most stable servers out of any of them.

Everyone has a favorite game or a game they’ll always come back to play. So what’s that game for you?

• Well, I started my career with ARK: Survival Evolved. And ARK will always have a special place in my heart! I always return to it to check out any new DLCs or other content they release. So that is top of my list. But I will say that Project Zomboid has snuck up on all of us over the last year, and it has made its way into my all-time favorite games.

Inspiration is key in any venture. So what inspires you with content creation?

• For me, the most significant push when it comes to making content is the feedback from my viewers. Whenever I post a video or stream, I always doubt whether the content is good enough. Most content creators struggle with that to some degree – Imposter syndrome at its finest. But then having viewers come into a stream or leave a comment on a video, telling me how much they enjoyed it or that they learned something new about the game. That after all the hours they’ve spent playing it, that they tried out a new strategy because of me and beat their personal best or did something they haven’t been able to do before – that makes it all worth it for me! That is what keeps me going and keeps me fired up to create more content all the time.

Twitch, Facebook or YouTube? Which social media or streaming platform do you prefer? Why do you like this platform the best?

• That vote goes to Twitch for me. Out of all the streaming platforms, it is just the easiest to set up and get going. Twitch has its own unique culture where people from all over the world can communicate in Twitch’s language, built of emotes and abbreviations that is universally understood no matter what stream you tune into. In addition to that, I feel Twitch offers me the most options to interact with my viewers during the stream.

Did you ever imagine being where you are right now when you started?

• I didn’t. Because I was a stay-at-home dad, I started my channel as something I could share with my kids who just got into gaming. Had anyone told me even last year that in a year I’d be Twitch Partner and getting the numbers I do now; I would have told them they’re crazy!

What advice would you give to yourself in the past if you could go back in time?

• Don’t spend any money on those creams or pills. They don’t work! In all seriousness, though, to say it in the words of Dr. Seuss: Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
