GG SkyIslands is a mod created by ragingarcher and is part of the recently created Premium Mods section that requires payment to access. However, don’t let this discourage you, as it brings new possibilities and explorations to the game, as well as useful new structures to make the most of it. Next, we will review each of the different island sizes, their biomes, and the extra elements that the mod contains.
The main attraction of the mod is its islands, so we’ll explain how they work. First, you’ll need to create the “GG Skyisland workingstation” workbench, where you can create the different types of islands and the objects that will help you make the most of each island. Although the islands can be generated with up to 6 different biomes, the different types of trees included in the mod can be placed in any of them. Additionally, you’ll have designated areas to place one of the 3 types of stone extractors included. These islands can be picked up or destroyed, but don’t be afraid to do so by mistake, as you’ll need 50 seconds to complete this process. That makes this type of accident almost impossible. Finally, all these islands have platforms on the bottom, strategically designed for PvP battles and to defend your island in the best possible way. Having described the main characteristics of each island, we will proceed to describe each of the variants you can find.
These islands are classified within the mod as the base size, and we can find 6 different biomes to choose from when building your island: tropical, Redwood, swamp, desert, snowy, and oasis. They have a main platform and a small platform for mining or adding some trees. These islands have around 3 fixed trees with the theme of our choice, plus 1 or 2 platforms integrated with them. In some biomes like the Redwood, you can build more platforms on the trees, although it’s also the only island that doesn’t have a small platform for mining. Choose the base biome you like the most and start customizing your flying island.
In addition to the 6 biomes you can choose when creating your standard-sized island, the mod integrates 2 thematic ruin islands, from the maps The Island and Scorched Earth. They only share the size with the previous ones. Their main variant is that they integrate some ruins like the ones you can find around each of the maps, giving you even more options to add to your sky fortress.
These islands are considerably smaller and lack a second platform and integrated trees. They have space for you to place some trees, but they don’t come with them from the beginning. You can find them in 5 different biomes: tropical, Redwood, desert, swamp, and snowy. These islands have the peculiarity that you can build a mining station right in the center of them so that you can generate resources passively.
You’ll also find another version of the small islands, the small island with a bridge, which has all the aforementioned characteristics but also has a small bridge so that you can connect your floating islands and create the airborne fortress you want.
These islands are larger than the main ones, with plenty of space to build on a large main platform, and they also have a second platform approximately half the size of the main one. As if that weren’t enough, they have a small island connected by a staircase and 2 mining platforms so you can obtain resources passively. These gigantic islands come in only two variants: tropical and themed with Scorched Earth, which varies only in the fact that the second platform is an oasis.
It’s the largest island in the mod, as it combines all biomes. This island is perfect if you can’t choose a specific biome, as it will give you a little bit of everything without counting the immense space it will give you to create your project in the sky.
In addition to the islands, we can also build a series of items and structures that we can place on our flying islands included in the mod. We have already mentioned some like the mining station or the decorative trees, but below we will talk specifically about each of them.
Skyisland mining post: This is a mining post that you can place in certain areas of the islands and will allow you to obtain mineral resources passively. The mod includes 3 types of posts, as it will only generate a specific mineral. You can choose between metal, obsidian, or crystal.
If you are the server administrator or simply want to experiment with all the functions of the mod, the best way to obtain the resources of the mod is by creating the administrator box that contains all the elements that are included in it. You just take it and place it in your inventory. When you close and open the box again, the objects you have taken will be automatically replenished, so you can get all the resources you want. To generate this box, you will have to use the command console with the code: Cheat GFI Admin. If you have questions about how to enter creative mode in ARK: Survival Ascended you can check our guides. Now you just have to take the necessary resources and let your imagination fly to create the airborne fortress of your dreams.
