Der Dino Finder Mod – ARK: Survival Ascended

As we all know, hunting down that perfect dinosaur on your ARK: Survival Ascended server can take up lots of time. We both want to save time, so why not use Der Dino Finder? This is a simple, yet advanced mod that allows you to quickly locate specific dinos. You can filter by species, gender, range, age, and even levels – or you can just search for its name.

Server Setup

You will need to install the Der Dino Finder mod via the Nitrado Web Interface. This process is easy and straightforward, along with editing its configuration too. It won’t take too much time!

⚠️Singleplayer Only: the start argument, -preventHibernation is required. For consoles, the Prevent Hibernation mod is needed so everything works. This is only for singleplayer, not required on dedicated servers.

Der Dino Finder Showcase

Once you’ve successfully installed the Der Dino Finder mod on your ARK server, a new button will appear alongside the inventory map for you to toggle its functionality. While searching for a dinosaur, markers will show in-game displaying its range, name, gender, and level. It depends on how you set it up, but this is the default configuration.

As for tracking the dino, you can select one of the makers and follow it – leading you to the dinosaur. If for some reason you cannot find the toggle button for this mod, use the following command to spawn it: cheat summon Der_Dino_Finder. The following sections show how to search for dinos using various filtering options.

Dinos

The primary way to easily find dinos is using their names to locate them in-game. In the custom menu, you can scroll through all the different species, then select the one you want. Additionally, this is where you can set the minimum or maximum level of the dinosaur. After tweaking the search parameters, you can click the marker icon to begin finding it. Only the 20 highest level dinos will appear as markers, unless changed in the configuration. Keep this in mind when using this method of searching for dinos in ARK.

Filters

With more advanced options, the more specific you can be when searching for dinos. In the next area of the menu, you can filter by gender, age, and range. This helps narrow down the search, especially if you’re wanting to find tameable dinosaurs. It’s quick and easy! Once you filter these options, click the marker icon at the bottom to apply them. This will change the markers in-game to the exact dinos you want to find.

Traits

The final way to narrow down the hunt is to filter by traits. In the last area of the menu, you can scroll and select various traits to update the markers. This helps when you want very specific kinds of dinos in your ARK: Survival Ascended world. Whether you want vampiric, tenacious, or something completely different – this is the area where you get exactly what you want. Keep in mind that you will need to clear the finder when redoing all the filtering options. Otherwise, all the settings will be saved and you won’t be able to locate other dinosaurs.
