Dune: Awakening – Customizing the Sandworm

The gameplay in your Dune: Awakening server is heavily influenced by the threat of Sandworms. It turns traveling across open sands into a dangerous journey that may result in your death. By adjusting Sandworm settings on your Nitrado server, you can control how much threat is generated by various player actions. In this guide, we’ll show you how to customize the experience for your Dune: Awakening server!

Sandworm Threats

There are various actions that can generate threat levels for a Sandworm. These may include walking, running, or simply collecting resources on open sand. Once a specified threshold is reached, an attack is very likely. On our servers, you have the ability to adjust threats generated by various actions. Here’s the total list:

• Walking
• Running
• Sprinting
• Crouching
• Dashing
• Bindu Sprinting (Bene Genesserit ability)
• Using Suspensors
• Using Shields
• Moving Across Drum Sand
• Compacting & Picking Up Spice
• Compacting & Picking Up Flour Sand

 
Unfortunately, it’s not yet possible to adjust threat generated from vehicles. Besides that, you may tweak these values to determine how calm or aggressive the Sandworm acts in your Hagga Basin. Extreme values can create truly unique experiences, such as:

• Set Threat from Walking and/or Crouching to 0 to emulate Dune’s iconic Sandwalking.
• Set Threat from Sprinting to 0, but for other movement types set it to 5000 or more.

 
The Sandworm appears almost immediately once a player slows down, increasing the difficulty.

How to Edit Sandworm Settings

1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface for the Dune: Awakening server.
2. Navigate to Settings > General on the left-hand side of your screen.
3. Scroll down and toggle Sandworm Settings, then enable any options you want
   
4. When you’re finished, click Save Changes at the bottom – then restart the server.

Disabling the Sandworm

Some players may choose to leave the Sandworm encounters to the Deep Desert, and use their Hagga Basin for creative building on the sands of Arrakis. With this in mind, you can also completely disable it on your Dune: Awakening server. Simply toggle the Sandworm option in the settings, then save changes and restart the server.

Customizing Sandworms helps determine what actions cause threats to increase, resulting in higher chances of an attack. Lower or raise these values to personalize your gameplay experience.
