ARK Ban List – How to Ban Players on Your ARK: SE Server

    ARK Ban List – Introduction

While ravishing through the amazing maps of ARK: Survival Evolved, many gorgeous sites await your journey from mysterious caverns, deeply corrupted plains, and even the outermost parts of space as asteroids swirl nearby. With such beauty, it’s important that players that intend to ruin that experience are removed from your server to ensure the safety of your players and of their adventures.

Removing these players starts with a ban list, a powerful tool built into your ARK: Survival Evolved server where you can easily add player IDs to stop those players from being able to join your server and wreck the fun. Follow us below as we guide you through banning players so that they can no longer access your ARK: Survival Evolved server!

How to Ban Players with the ARK Ban List

What is the ARK Ban List?

On your ARK: Survival Evolved server, the ban list is a setting that allows you to add player Steam64 IDs, one ID per line. When a player is added to your ARK ban list, that player will no longer be able to join your ARK server. To begin banning a player, we will need to find and gather that player’s Steam64 ID. To do that, you can follow the sections below!

Finding a Player Steam64 ID to Ban Them

There are two methods you can use to get a player’s Steam64 ID. One method uses an exclusive feature of the Nitrado control panel to ensure you can easily manage the players on your server. The second method uses searching for that player’s username to find their ID. Let’s uncover both ways to find the player ID!

Gathering the ID if the Player is Online

      1. On your Nitrado ARK server panel, to the left under “TOOLS” select the “Player control” option.

      1. In your “Player control” area, if a player is online you will see them appear when “Online” is checked.

    1. Next to each player under the “Steam-ID” section, you will be able to find the Steam64 ID of that player. You can save that for the next steps toward banning that player.

Getting the ID if that Player is Not Online

    1. Ensure that you have that player’s Steam username.
    2. Once you have their username, go on SteamID.io and search for that player’s Steam username:
      look up a Steam64 ID
    3. The Steam64 ID of that player will now display below!

You are now ready to take action against that player on your ARK: Survival Evolved game server!

Banning Players with the ARK Ban List

      1. Go on your ARK: SE server panel and to the left under “SETTINGS” press the “General” option.

      1. In your “General” settings, scroll down under you see the “Player” section. You’ll then want to locate the “Banlist” setting section here.

      1. In the “Banlist” section, add a player Steam64 ID one player per line like this:

    1. After adding those player IDs to your ban list, press the “Save changes” option at the bottom to ensure those adjustments remain.
    2. Lastly, restart your ARK: Survival Evolved server and once it is online, those players will no longer be able to join or play on your game server!

If you ever need to unban any player banned on your server, all you would need to do is remove that player’s Steam 64 ID from the banlist, save, and then restart your ARK game server.

Using an ARK Ban List URL

A ban list URL is another great method of keeping already banned players off of your ARK server. By adding a ban list URL, if a player has been banned in this list they will also be banned on your server. These ban lists are often shared from other ARK servers, such as ARK’s official ban list for players banned off of their official servers.

      1. On your ARK server panel, below “SETTINGS” press the “General” option.

      1. In the “General” settings, go to the “Player” section and find the “Ban List URL” option.

      1. Add the ban list URL you have into this option just like this ensuring you include quotations around that URL:

    1. After adding that URL, press “Save changes” at the bottom and then restart your server to load that ban list.

Your server is now protected from any players that have been or will be banned in that ban list!

    Conclusion

An ARK ban list is a great and effective tool to stop any player in their tracks from being able to harm your server. In only a few short steps, you can ban players and implement ban list URLs to provide the ultimate protection for your server and players. Defend your server today by setting up a ban list on your own ARK: Survival Evolved server!
