    Spigot - Minecraft

    Spigot – Minecraft

    Minecraft wiki.jpg

Spigot.png Spigot is the most widely-used modded Minecraft server software in the world. It powers many of the top Minecraft server networks around to ensure they can cope with their huge player base and ensure the satisfaction of their players. Spigot works by reducing and eliminating many causes of lag, as well as adding in handy features and settings that help make your job of server administration easier. The end result is that your server becomes a cut above the competition and you no longer have to spend time tearing your hair out over players complaining of lag.

It must also be added that Spigot is perfect for smaller servers too, especially due to features like cutting idle CPU usage, saving power, and other resources when only a few or no players are online.

    How do I install Spigot?

    Installation Using the Nitrado-Webinterface

In the web interface of the Minecraft server, the Change version entry is located in the Minecraft Bukkit on the left side of the screen. All Minecraft versions can be selected. Click on the Install button to install the version.

    Manual Installation

If you would like a more up-to-date version of Spigot or want it to be offered in the web interface, you can create it yourself (compile). A tutorial is available in the Spigot Wiki, in English at: https://www.spigotmc.org/wiki/spigot-installation/ After a successful compilation (creation) of the Spigot.jar, you simply rename it to Craftbukkit.jar and upload it to your Minecraft server via [ FTP ] or in the file browser of the web interface. Before of course stop the server, then upload/replace with the current craftbukkit.jar and then restart the server.

    Connect via FTP

    • First, you would need to connect to your server files using and FTP client to upload and manage files from your Minecraft server folder easily. Before doing this, make sure to stop your server.
    • You can download FileZilla FTP Client here: https://filezilla-project.org/
    • Open FileZilla Client, and click on the corner top left button which says, ‘Open the Site Manager.’

    • Then you click on ‘New site’, you can name the site anything you want, this does not really matter.

    • Then on the right side, in the ‘General’ tab, you will see 4 empty fields that you need to fill with your FTP Credentials. You can find your FTP Credentials on your Nitrado server web interface, just scroll down through the dashboard to the bottom.

    • Make sure to set the Encryption on your FTP connection to ‘Plain FTP’

    • Once you connect to your server via FTP, you will see your PC files on the left side and your Minecraft server files on the right side.

    • You are now connected to your server files via FTP.

Download a customized Minecraft server API

    • You can download the latest Spigot .jar file version here: https://getbukkit.org/download/spigot
    • Once you downloaded your Paper .jar file, you can just drag and drop it into your server /minecraft folder, wait for it to upload, it usually takes a minute.

    UploadingFZExampleMC.png

    • Once uploaded, remove the current minecraft_server.jar file

    • Rename the .jar Spigot file you just uploaded to minecraft_server.jar

    RenameToMCServerJar.png

    • Now you can just start your server again from the Nitrado web interface. You can view your server live console to see how the new server software is being installed.

That’s it, this should be decreasing the common lag issues on your Minecraft vanilla server.

How Do I install Spigot Plugins?

The installation of plugins is identical to the installation of Bukkit plugins. First, they must be downloaded from the Bukkit Dev-Center (dev.bukkit.org) or the Spigot-Plugin-Center (see below). If it is a .zip file, you must first unpack it, upload the .jar files (and, if available, the config folders) to the / plugins folder of the server by FTP. If necessary, the configuration files (configs) have to be adapted (eg MySQL settings). The plugins are activated after a restart of the server.
