    Enshrouded Server Permissions Configuration Guide

    Enshrouded Server Permissions — Introduction

In Enshrouded, you and your friends awaken as a Flameborn, the last hope of a dying race. In this adventure with up to 16 others, you’ll take on many challenges, but one of the most important ones is ensuring players can interact with the world & server. The best way to do this is through Enshrouded server permissions, a new option to your server’s enshrouded_server.json file. With these groups, you’ll have the ability to set specific passwords for guests, friends, and admins, with abilities such as being able to kick, edit bases, and extend them as needed. Then, by users utilizing that password, they’ll gain access to the group. In this guide, we will cover how you can review these groups, edit them, and how players can gain these groups on your server!

Where are the Enshrouded Server Permissions Located?

On your Nitrado server, there are three groups total which you can find by pressing “File Browser” on the left. In your File Browser, locate the “enshrouded” folder and enter it. Then, find the enshrouded_server.json file and edit this.

In this file, you will see options for the three preset groups under “userGroups”:

    • Admin with permissions:
      • canKickBan
      • canAccessInventories
      • canEditBase
      • canExtendBase
      • reservedSlots: 1
    • Friend with permissions:
      • canAccessInventories
      • canEditBase
      • canExtendBase
      • reservedSlots: 3
    • Guest with permissions:
      • reservedSlots: 0

Additionally, each group will feature a “password”. This is the password you can use, or adjust, and then once your players use this on your server, they’ll gain access to that group. If you wish to change this, adjust the password and press “Save changes”. Afterward, restart your server to apply that change.

How to Change Enshrouded Server Groups & Permissions

In Enshrouded, the process of changing groups/permissions is straightforward. Upon joining the server and entering the password, enter the password for the group you’d like to join. If you’re not the server owner, we recommend asking for permission to join a group if they allow it. After typing that password for the group, you’ll immediately gain access to those permissions. From there, depending on your group, you may gain access to banning, accessing inventories, and even editing bases.

NOTE: This system will replace the default server password option for your Enshrouded server. If a password is set on your server already, this will automatically create a “default” group with that password in your server’s configuration.
