The world of Minecraft takes players on unique journeys across a blocky world to explore. From adventuring across a gentle plains biome to traveling across a broken castle in the Nether. NO matter of where you go in Minecraft, getting there can often take a long time leading to boredom as you wait to get to your destination. Thankfully, there is a way to speed up the slow travel through the use of teleport in Minecraft!
Teleport in Minecraft is a method of transportation that uses commands to quickly get from one point to another. With teleportation, you’ll eliminate countless hours of running and obstacles to get to. That teleporting includes going directly to coordinates and even another player. To get you on your way to fast transportation, we’ll show you how to teleport in Minecraft on your own Minecraft game server!
To access teleporting in Minecraft, players and admins will need to use teleport commands. There are multiple ways to use a command on your Minecraft game and server depending on the device you’re playing on. Since teleport is an admin command, you’ll need to enable cheats or give that user permission. Then, players will be able to use the command to teleport to players and coordinates on your server. To ensure you can use teleporting, we recommend following this guide to learn how to use Minecraft commands!
In Minecraft, there are three variables based on location for longitude, elevation, and latitude. These variables are represented as X, Y, and Z. X focuses on East and West movement, Y deals with up and down movement, and Z changes with North and South movement. Players can teleport in Minecraft to specific X, Y, and Z coordinates. This is useful if players need to find a difficult-to-locate biome, cave, or area they’d like to revisit. If you need to see the coordinates of your location in Minecraft, you can:
Minecraft Java Edition – Display the coordinates with the “F3”-key.
Minecraft Bedrock Edition – Go into game settings and toggle “Show Coordinates”.
Once you have the coordinates that you or your friend need to teleport to, use this command to teleport to that location:
/tp X Y Z
When it comes to teleporting, being able to go to your friends or to bring them to you is important when playing. Whether that’s in a minigame or during a survival session where someone died to a rogue creeper. Teleporting to other players and teleporting them to you can be done with the command:
/tp
When using the command, “player1” will need to be replaced with the player that is being teleported. Then, “player2” needs to be replaced with the player that is being teleported to. The above command would teleport “player1” to “player2”.
By default, there is not a /spawn command in Minecraft to go to your spawn point. While that command can be added with a Minecraft plugin, another way to get to your server spawn is by using coordinates or another player.
If a player is already at your spawn point, you can simply teleport to them with the /tp command. Otherwise, we recommend writing down the coordinates of your spawn point. With the coordinates in hand, you’ll be able to use the teleporting command /tp to go back to spawn at any time!
Did you know that other worlds in Minecraft support teleporting too? To teleport to another world, players will need to have admin permissions and then they can use this command:
/execute as run execute in minecraft:the_nether run tp ~ 128 ~
The location ~ 128 ~ will teleport players directly above the Nether’s bedrock, however, you can adjust X, Y, and Z values to teleport to different areas in the Nether. This command will also work for The End and any other extra worlds or dimensions on your server. Once you’re in another world, you’ll be able to explore entirely new areas, mobs, and structures!
When it comes to using command blocks in Minecraft, the commands used are nearly identical and allow you to create teleport buttons and warps. If you do not already have a command block, you can use the command /give minecraft:command_block 1 to get one.
Place that command block onto the ground and then access its inventory. Inside the command block, you’ll be able to add a console command. In this, you can type the teleport command you’d like to use without a / in front of it. Here are two examples of the many teleport commands you can add within a command block and how they can be used:
You can teleport to nearby villages using teleport commands but they’re not the only structures that you can teleport to. Aside from villages, you can find the nearest bee nests, mineshafts, ocean ruins, mansions, and so much more. Teleporting to these locations will require coordinates and, luckily, there is a way to find those coordinates by using the /locate command.
The locate command can be used to find three types of areas, biomes, points of interest, and structures. To use the command, you’ll need to have cheats enabled or have Op. Then, you can type the command /locate <biome|poi|structure> followed by a space to see all of the many options you can teleport to.
Here is an example of the different points of interest that you can locate using the command:
After entering the command, press enter. Then, you’ll be provided with the nearest coordinates for that biome, point of interest, or structure.
Lastly, type in the teleport command with those coordinates. You’ll then be sent to that location!
Like many other games, teleporting is an essential part of Minecraft that quickly gets players from one place to the next in seconds. Now that you know how to teleport in Minecraft, you’ll be ready to go anywhere and everywhere. From the nearest village to the furthest dungeons and even into the Nether and The End. Teleport your way to a new adventure when you use teleportation with friends on your Minecraft game server!
