How to Use BlueMap in Minecraft

How to Use BlueMap in Minecraft

Minecraft servers can quickly grow into large worlds filled with builds, landmarks, and player creations. Having an easy way to explore and share those worlds outside of the game can make navigation much easier. BlueMap provides a modern solution by allowing your server world to be viewed online through an interactive map. It also serves as a great alternative to our older Overview Map feature, offering a much more immersive way to view your world. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to set up and use BlueMap for your Minecraft server!

    What is BlueMap?

BlueMap is a Minecraft mapping tool that generates an interactive 3D map from your server’s world files. Instead of a traditional top-down map, it renders terrain, blocks, and structures into a fully navigable 3D environment that can be explored directly in a web browser. Players can zoom, rotate the camera, and freely move around the map to view builds, terrain features, and other parts of the world from different angles.

BlueMap supports multiple installation methods, including plugins for Spigot or Paper servers and mods for Fabric or Forge. When installed on a server, the rendering process runs asynchronously from the main Minecraft server thread, helping prevent lag while maps are generated. This makes it a practical way for server owners to provide an online map without significantly impacting gameplay performance.

    Installing BlueMap on Minecraft Servers

Click here to download BlueMap for Spigot, Paper, Forge, or Fabric to begin. Save this file somewhere easily accessible, as you will need it for the installation. When you’re ready, follow the instructions below 👏

    1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface for the server.
    2. Navigate to Tools > File Manager on the left.
      Nitrado Tools File Browser
    3. Enter the main directory, then click plugins or mods. Choose the correct one for your setup.
    4. Click the Upload File button on the right, then select the BlueMap .jar file.
      Nitrado Upload File
    5. Restart the server after refreshing the page to confirm it’s uploaded.
    6. Return to the plugins or mods directory, then open the BlueMap folder.

    7. Click on the core.conf file, then change accept-download to true.

    8. Save changes and restart the server again.
    9. Navigate to Tools > Live Server Console, then look for WebServer bound to.
      BlueMap WebServer Port
    10. Copy & paste the address in your browser, e.g. 185.9.106.94:10163.

Depending on the size of your world, BlueMap might take a few minutes to load everything. You can use the /bluemap command in the console or in-game to view the progress. If your world is large, please be patient as the plugin loads the map on the browser.

BlueMap 3D Plugin Mod Minecraft Guide
After a successful installation of the BlueMap plugin on your Minecraft server, you can view the map by using the WebServer port with your server address. An example would be 185.9.106.94:10163, which is the URL for the map in your browser. More advanced setups can even make this your own domain name too!
