Minecraft Create Mod — Beginner's Guide and Server Setup

Minecraft Create Mod — Beginner’s Guide and Server Setup

One of the best ways to expand your Minecraft server is using the Create Mod, a mod that allows you to introduce beautiful, physics-based mechanical engineering. Whether you want to set up automated factories, massive windmills, or fully functional train networks, you can do that. There are tons of available options to choose from when setting up your own kinetic machines. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to install and use the Create mod on your server 👏

    Create Mod Installation

Download Create from CurseForge or Modrinth for Forge or NeoForge. Follow these steps:

    1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface for your Minecraft server.
    2. Navigate to Tools > File Browser on the left from your Dashboard.
      Nitrado File Browser
    3. Enter the mods folder, then click Upload File on the right.
      Nitrado Upload Mods Guide
    4. Select the Create Mod .jar file you downloaded and wait for it to upload.

⚠️ Make sure your Minecraft server is using Forge or NeoForge for mods to work.

    Understanding Kinetic Energy & Power

To expand your factory, you must generate and manage kinetic energy. You will need to understand how rotational force works so your machines can work properly.

    • Speed (RPM): How fast your shafts and gears are spinning. Higher speed makes machines process items faster.
    • Stress Capacity (SU): The total carrying capacity of your network. Every power source generates SU, and every machine consumes SU. If consumption exceeds generation, your system will stall.

    Generating Kinetic Power

Once you have your create mod server running, you and your players will need a way to generate rotational power. Here are the main early-game components:

    • Source: Hand Crank
Usage: Right-click manually to generate a small burst of rotational force. Excellent for early crafting and testing layout designs.
    • Source: Water Wheel
Usage: Flow a stream of water over the blades to generate constant, passive power. Line them up side-by-side to increase your overall Stress Units.

    Mechanical Components and Processing

You can easily adjust how power is transmitted across your base without relying on complex UI menus. Use components to change rotational direction, speed, or placement while standing in your workshop:

    • Shaft: Transmits rotational force forward in a straight line.
    • Cogwheel: Transmits power diagonally or alters the rotation speed depending on whether you use small or large variants.
    • Mechanical Press: Uses downward kinetic force to flatten raw ingots into industrial sheets.
    • Gearshift: Reverses the rotation direction of your entire connected axle line when triggered by a Redstone signal.
    • Gearbox: Changes the angle of rotation by 90 degrees, allowing you to route power around tight corners or down through floors.

    Create Mod Addons

To unlock the full potential of Create, you can install official companion mods into your mods folder. These modules allow you to change how players interact across your custom automated factory.

    • Create: Steam ‘n’ Rails: Adds deep customization to the train system, including new track styles, distinct train sizes, and expanded automation tools.
    • Create: Crafts & Additions: Bridges the gap between kinetic energy and electrical power (RF/FE), allowing you to hook up your kinetic generators to modern electrical machines.
    • Create: Enchantment Industry: Introduces liquid experience, automated enchanting setups, and industrial printing mechanics to copy books and maps automatically.
    • Create: Big Cannons: Adds massive, multi-block artillery and kinetic defense systems perfect for industrial-era warfare servers.

    Mastering the Ponder System

Managing multiple moving parts requires keeping track of how individual components interact without constantly checking external wikis.

    • View 3D Tutorial: Hover over any Create block in your inventory and hold the W key.
    • Interact with Previews: Spin the camera and view step-by-step animated schematics directly inside your game client.
    • Identify Stress Costs: Check exact stress impact and RPM requirements inside the Ponder overlay window.

    Factory Automation in Minecraft

With the Create mod, you’re able to build an entire network of automated factories right on your server. Whether it’s a massive train station, an automated mining quarry, or a fully self-sustaining farm, everything is in your control. There are plenty of other commands and mechanics you can use with this mod, including constructing physical, moving contraptions. We recommend checking out the official in-game ponder system for Create to learn more.
