    Minecraft – Multiverse Guide

    Minecraft – Multiverse Guide

One of the best ways to expand your Minecraft server is using Multiverse, a plugin that allows you to manage and create multiple customizable worlds. Whether you want to set up a dedicated creative world, a separate survival map, or a unique minigame area, you can do that. There are tons of available options to choose from when setting up your own worlds. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to install and use the Multiverse plugin in Minecraft 👏

    Rent Your Own Minecraft Server

    Multiverse Installation

You need to download, then install Multiverse-Core before getting started.

    1. Head towards your Nitrado Web Interface for the Minecraft server.
    2. Navigate to Tools > File Browser on the left from your Dashboard.
      Nitrado File Browser
    3. Enter minecraftbukkit/plugins, then click Upload File on the right.
      Nitrado Plugins Guide
    4. Select the Multiverse file you downloaded and wait for it to upload.

    Creating and Importing Worlds

To expand your server, you can create brand new worlds or import existing maps you’ve uploaded. You will need to become OP if you aren’t already, so commands can work properly.

    Create a New World
    Use: /mv create [world] [environment] [-t world_type]
Example: /mv create Creative normal -t FLAT
World Types are completely optional, not required to create a new world.

If you want to create a Nether or End world, then change the environment:
    /mv create World_Name nether or /mv create World_Name end

    Import Existing Worlds
    Use: /mv import [folder_name] [environment]

The folder name is the world folder you uploaded via File Browser in the Nitrado Web Interface.

    Teleporting Between Worlds

Once you have multiple worlds, you and your players will need a way to travel between them. Here’s the main teleport command:

    • Teleport Yourself: /mvtp [world]
    • Teleport Another Player: /mvtp [player] [world]

    World Modifications and Settings

You can easily adjust the gameplay rules for each world individually without touching configuration files. Use the modify command while standing in the world you want to change: /mvm set [property] [value]

    Common and Useful Modifications

    • pvp: Toggles player-vs-player combat. (Example: /mv modify set pvp false [world])
    • monsters: Enables or disables aggressive mob spawning.
    • animals: Controls the spawning of passive animals like cows and sheep.
    • mode: Forces a specific gamemode when entering.
    • alias: Changes the world’s display name in chat, allowing custom names.

    Multiverse Addons

To unlock the full potential of Multiverse, you can install official companion plugins into your plugins folder. These modules allow you to change how players interact across your custom maps.

    • Multiverse-Portals: Allows you to select structures with WorldEdit and create physical in-game gates. Players can step into these portals to automatically teleport to other worlds or custom destinations.
    • Multiverse-Inventories: Keeps player inventories, ender chests, health, hunger, and experience completely separated between worlds. This ensures players cannot bring overpowered survival gear into your creative or minigame worlds.
    • Multiverse-NetherPortals: Links custom nether and end portals directly to their matching overworlds. This creates standard vanilla portal mechanics across multi-world environments, or allows you to custom-link normal nether portals to completely different maps.
    • Multiverse-SignPortals: Turns regular wooden signs into functional teleporters. Once set up, players can right-click the sign to transport to another world instantly.

    Managing World States

Managing multiple worlds requires maintaining server performance and keeping track of your active maps.

    • List All Worlds: /mv list
    • Set World Spawn: /mv setspawn
    • Unload a World: /mv unload [world]
    • Remove a World: /mv remove [world] (Keeps the world folder safe)

    World Management in Minecraft

With the Multiverse plugin, you’re able to build an entire network of worlds right on your server. Whether it’s a hub lobby, a resource world, or a separate testing ground, everything is in your control. There are plenty of other commands and actions you can do with this plugin, including adding physical portals. We recommend checking out the official documentation for Multiverse to learn more.
