    World Administration for Valheim

    World Administration for Valheim

Your Valheim server might run one world for years, or shift between several: a fresh Deep North save at launch, a backup before a risky build, or a copy for testing new World Modifiers. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll show you how to manage every world on your server: backing up, copying, activating, and deleting, all from one page.

    Finding the World Manager

Open Tools > World manager in your Nitrado Web Interface to see every world stored on your server.

The Nitrado Web Interface sidebar with Tools expanded and World manager highlighted

If your server is new or you’ve just created a world, give it time to appear. It can take up to 20 minutes for a new world to save and show up in the list.

    The Available Worlds List

Each world appears as a row, alongside its automatic backups, which are named <World>_backup_auto- followed by a timestamp. The world currently running on your server carries a green Active badge.

Every row carries four action icons. The play icon activates the world, and the red trash icon deletes it. Between and beside them sit two floppy-style icons: the left one copies the world, and the right one creates a backup. The play icon is hidden on whichever world is already active.

    Backing Up a World

Select the floppy disk icon next to a world to create a restore point. The server restarts when the backup process begins, so time it for downtime rather than mid-session. Separately, Tools > Restore Backup restores a full server backup by date, if you ever need to roll back further than a single world.

    Copying a World

Select the copy icon in a world’s row to open the Copy world dialog, then enter a new name and select Copy. The dialog only accepts the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9 in the new name.

A copy is useful for testing changes, like new World Modifiers, without touching the original. It isn’t the same as a backup: a copy makes a separate world under a new name, while a backup keeps a restore point for the same world.

    Deleting or Activating a World

Select the trash icon to delete a world. A confirmation dialog names the world and asks you to confirm before anything is erased, so back up the world first if you might want it again.

To switch which world your server runs, select the play icon next to the world you want active. The server restarts to load it, and your friends reconnect to the newly active world once it’s back online.
