    How to Play Any Forge or NeoForge Minecraft Server Version

    Vanilla Minecraft holds a player’s attention for a long time, but eventually the urge to add new items, magic systems, or custom biomes takes over. Adding mods changes the gameplay entirely. Setting up the backend files stops a lot of people from trying. In this Nitrado guide, we explain how to set up Minecraft Forge or NeoForge so you can build the exact environment you want.

    Install Minecraft Forge or NeoForge on Your Server

    Manual modding configurations often lead to version mismatches and crash loops. Using a specific tool skips that frustration. If you want to play specific modifications, we recommend installing our HellBz’s Forge Installer. It lets you choose your game version and recommends the compatible modloader.

    1. Switch your active game server to Minecraft (Curse Launcher / Feed the Beast) HellBz’s Forge Installer.

    2. Navigate to Tools > Live Server Console.
      Open Live Server Console
    3. Type your preferred Minecraft version (e.g. 1.21.11) when the console prompts you.

      Note: The text above the prompt displays which versions currently support Forge and NeoForge.

    4. Afterwards, choose a Forge or NeoForge version at the second prompt. The console displays the latest and recommended builds to help you decide.

    5. To let the server unpack the data, wait a few minutes until the installation finishes.

    Uploading Mods to Your Nitrado Server

    With the foundation in place, the server can now read custom files. You can upload any mod or modpack you plan on playing directly to your Nitrado server.     Pro Tip: Stick to the recommended version of Forge or NeoForge unless a specific mod explicitly demands the latest experimental build.
