Dune: Awakening – World Sunsetting

Dune: Awakening – World Sunsetting

Similar to official servers, we sometimes consolidate our Dune: Awakening capacity by closing Worlds. Understanding what this means as a server owner or player is important. Whether you’re hosting a server or playing on someone else’s world, it will impact you. In this Nitrado guide, we’ll explain what this means for you as a server owner or player on an affected World.

World Sunsetting as a Server Owner

If the World your server is on is closing, you will receive an e-mail informing you about the timeline. The sunset date is also visible:

  • In the “World Manager” tool in the Nitrado Webinterface
  • In the in-game server list
  • As an in-game notification on login (“Message of the Day”)

The duration of the sunset period is 45 days. During this period, you can use the “World Manager” tool in the Nitrado Webinterface to move your server to a new World. By selecting the “Migration” move method, you receive access to a server on your origin World and your target World simultaneously for a period of 14 days. Note that you can use our Message of the Day feature to communicate to your community when you plan to start a migration period.

For details on migrating your server, please refer to our guide on server moves and migrations here.

If you do not migrate your server during the sunset period, your server will be shut down with the rest of the World. You can still move your server to a different World after that point. Your character data remains safe the entire time.

To make base backups easier for your players, you may also want to adjust the “Base Backup Cooldown” for your server. This allows to back up bases with the Base Reconstruction Tool without having to wait the default 7 day waiting period.

World Sunsetting as a Player

If the World you are playing on is closing, as a player you will be prominently notified in the following places:

  • In the in-game server list
  • As an in-game notification on login (“Message of the Day”)

We encourage you to reach out to your fellow players and the server owner to coordinate which World the community will transfer to. If the server owner has started a migration to a different World, you will be notified about the target World on login.

For details on the transfer procedure, please refer to our Character Transfer Guide.

If you do not transfer your character during the sunset period and the World is fully closed, you can still transfer away. Your vehicles and bases will have automatically been backed up.

Please note: This automatic backup only occurs when the World is fully closed. That means if your server owner has already transferred the Hagga Basin server to another World and you can’t access your vehicles and bases, you may want to wait the full time until the World closes to receive an automatic backup of the vehicles and bases that were on that server.

Server migration is your safety net when a world sunset hits or when you decide it’s time to move on. Start early, stay organized, and make sure you’re ready! Share any feedback by joining our Nitrado Discord server and using the Dune channels.
